Recommended day trips
ASSUAN
We would be happy to organize a day trip to the city of Aswan, around 120 kilometers away – the most beautiful city in Egypt – which attracts visitors with its numerous sights. A trip on a small boat on the blue Nile, between the numerous rocky islands, is an unforgettable experience.
EDFU
Settlement and administrative center from early Pharaonic times on the border with Nubia. The temple has an ancient history dating back to Pharaonic times. Between 200 BC and 170 AD, during the Ptolemaic period, it was rebuilt in its current form.
All Nile cruise ships stop here to allow visitors to explore the huge, well-preserved temple.
Today, Edfu is a very lively city with a large market that takes place every day and offers everything an Upper Egyptian needs.
EL KAB
These are the remains of the enormous city wall of Necheb on the eastern bank of the Nile (500x500m long, 12m thick at the base), the sister city of Hierakonpolis, dating from the time of the first pharaonic dynasty around 3000 BC.
In the hills behind, there are tombs with beautiful wall paintings from the 18th Dynasty. In the adjacent valley, there are two more small temples.
DARAU
30 km before Aswan, on the outskirts of Darau, Egypt's largest camel market takes place weekly during the winter months. The camel caravans come from Sudan. The animals are resold here and are mainly used for harvesting sugar cane.
LUXOR
Luxor is about 100 km away from us, and we would be happy to put together a day trip with a sightseeing program for you. There are a large number of sights on both sides of the Nile, and we would be happy to help you choose and can also organize a guide.
VOGELBEOBACHTUNG
A wide variety of birds can be observed, both in our garden and on a hike along the Nile. With a little luck, you may see gray herons, stilt walkers, hoopoes, waxbills, etc.
For many birds from Europe, Egypt is a wintering ground, and some of these migratory birds take a break here before continuing their flight.
SCHEICH KUSSEY
The hill on which the small, very simple prayer house stands is located on the east bank of the Nile and offers a beautiful, sweeping view over the Nile Valley. After a short hike, you cross the Nile in a small boat and then climb the approximately 50-meter-high hill to enjoy the view.
